As Greenland is located within the Arctic Circle, it is a destination not frequently visited by travellers. Given three-quarters of the island covered in a permanent ice sheet, Winters, unsurprisingly, are bitterly cold, however its northern location opens up some fantastic gems, with dog sledding, ski fields and star gazing aplenty. There's also the opportunity to witness the northern lights.

There are only a handful of few cruise lines that offer itineraries that visit Greenland. Due to the frigid temperatures in Winter, these itineraries tend to cruise during the summer months when the weather is more pleasant. While departures may be few and far between, these itineraries are well worth the experience.
